William Campbell College is a purpose-built, special assistance school currently being built in Nowra Hill on the South Coast of New South Wales and will open its doors to students in 2023. The College will offer a holistic education system to support students with social, emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties, whose specific needs are not being met by mainstream education. 


Students may be disengaged from school, have suffered trauma or experienced time in out-of-home care. Incorporating trauma-informed teaching, positive education and wellbeing practices in a caring, safe and supportive environment, the College will support student’s growth and achievement from years K-6.


Built on a 120-acre property, the College curriculum is enhanced by student’s personal experiences outside the classroom, with a whole school focus on agriculture, horticulture, permaculture, aquaculture, music, art and crafts. 

About the role:

We are currently recruiting for Student Learning Support Officers to work at the William Campbell College as we open our doors to students in 2023.

The SLSO role involves:

  • Working one on one with students or assisting in group work.

  • Utilising effective behavioural management techniques to assist in promoting an optimal learning environment.

  • Taking initiative while working well within a team and ensuring Personalised Learning and Support Plans are supported.

  • Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, school leadership and clinical support providers.

Successful candidates will meet the below essential criteria: 

  • Relevant Education Support or other relevant qualification (preferred) 

  • Previous experience in education (preferred)

  • Ability to work within the framework of WCC's Christian Ethos and Values. 

  • As a child safe organisation,  WCC requires satisfactory statutory checks and references prior to confirmation of employment inclusive of a NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC)a National Police Check and an NDIS Worker Check. 

  • WCC is committed to a safe work environment requiring all staff to work within our WHS Policy framework.
